Law Day General Information for Grades K-5
Categories are listed below, rules will be finalized by December 1, 2024.
Submission Rules
- Entries must be the students' own work (no use of AI/ChatGPT or related programs)
- Entries be submitted with an Entry Form (click here to complete and submit)
- Please direct any questions to lawday@pcbaonline.org
Judging
- Judged on creative expression and understanding of theme - entries can be curious, critical, serious, or humorous
- Entries will be judged by the PCBA Law Day Committee, comprised of judges and attorneys
Categories

Coloring (Grades K-2)
- Only the coloring picture page included in these materials may be submitted and must be the exclusive work of the student. Crayons, markers, pens, pencils and/or paints are acceptable. Artwork may be done in school or at home
- The judges will be looking for:
- Use of Color (variety of color, shading and texture), and,
- Neatness (staying within the lines and showing attention to detail).
- Photo of the entry must be emailed lawday@pcbaonline.org for judging.
- PCBA will make arrangements for pick up or drop off of winning submission.

Essay (Grades 3-5)
- Individual projects only
- Essays should be 200-500 words and either typed or handwritten with standard formatting.
- Entries must be emailed lawday@pcbaonline.org to be judged.

Visual Arts (Grades 3-5)
- Group projects allowed, but prize would be shared
- Visual Arts may be submitted in the form of any original two or three-dimensional medium, including (but not limited to) painting, sculpture, graphic design, poster, and photography.
- The entry must be any original compilation of illustrations, media, or images. Crayons, markers, pens, pencils and/or paints along with related tools are acceptable. Artwork may be done in school or at home.
- Photo or a short video of the entry - along with a short description of how the entry relates to the theme - must be emailed to lawday@pcbaonline.org for judging.
- PCBA will make arrangements for pick up or drop off of winning submission.
- The judges will be looking for:
- Use of color (variety of color, shading, and texture), and,
- Creativity (originality, use of imagination and artistic qualities).

Technology (Grades 3-5)
- Group projects allowed, but prize would be shared
- A title and short description of how the entry relates to the theme.
- Student entries may be shorter than 5 minutes in length but should not be longer than 5 minutes.
- Any video and audio entries must be submitted and playable on YouTube or Windows Media Player. This also includes a platform to view any informational or game apps created.
- Entries must be emailed (lawday@pcbaonline.org) to be judged.

Music and Performing Arts (Grades 3-5)
- Group projects allowed, but prize would be shared
- In the form of:
- An original musical composition (lyrics must be original, but precomposed melodies and background music are permissible) recorded in the following playable formats: YouTube or Windows Media Player. YouTube is preferred; OR
- An original video production, such as a documentary or original drama recorded in the following formats: YouTube or Windows Media Player. YouTube is preferred.
- Student entries may be shorter than 3 minutes in length, but should not be longer than 3 minutes.
- All video and audio entries must be submitted via a link such as YouTube or reviewable with Windows Media Player to lawday@pcbaonline.org.
