A Moment to Recognize our Committees, their Work, and the Volunteers that Make it Possible
“It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt, rather, to bring people back to the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility, and of individuals working together as a community, to better their lives and their children’s future.” – Robert F. Kennedy
On behalf of the PCBA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our committee chairs and our current committee members. Their work has been exceptionally meaningful this year, and their work is all the more remarkable given the efforts are volunteered by jurists with full dockets and lawyers with full caseloads. Volunteerism generally and as to the PCBA specifically is so important for not only the substantive benefits it provides, but also for the procedural benefits, that is, the collaborative process of working toward a worthy cause.
As the largest local bar association in the state, the PCBA relies heavily on our member volunteers to further our mission and for our community engagement. Our committee work has been instrumental to the success of the organization. As we look forward on the calendar, you will see the product of strong committee work in our upcoming events. For example, from the upcoming Bench & Bar CLE to the upcoming golf event, these events showcase the Polk County legal community’s broad collegiality and allow us to support new lawyers looking to become a part of the legal community. It is important we recognize these events are the product of energies and efforts of your colleagues.
The strength of the organization depends on its volunteers for tomorrow. You might consider whether you would like to be involved in a particular committee. It is a significant way to give back to the organization. It also allows you to be involved in a way that is particularly suitable to you. The link to the our Committees is here: https://www.pcbaonline.org/about-us/committees I would encourage you to explore the link and consider whether there is a Committee that might be a good fit for you.
For those of you who volunteer, please know that you have our upmost thanks and appreciation.
